"We are very pleased about the recognition as Top Supplier Retail and of course also about Miele winning the Retail Technology Award; our warmest congratulations to them", says Marco Wassermann. The xplace CEO received the prize on Tuesday, February 18, 2020, at the xplace stand at EuroShop in Düsseldorf from Caroline Martens and Ulrich Spaan of the EHI Retail Institute. "The award shows: With a convincing concept and a comprehensive integrated digital signage solution, the POS can always excite and deliver what it promises – experience, advice and emotion – even with limited space.” xplace has already equipped more than 110 stores for Miele worldwide, most recently in Amsterdam and Brussels.

The concept of Miele's Experience or Small Experience Centres is designed to provide customers in high street locations with a high-quality brand and product experience. The fact that there is often less space available for large products such as household appliances is more than compensated for in Miele stores by sophisticated signage applications. Displays and interactive systems allow customers to explore the entire product range in its original size and, for example, to configure cooktops individually. The systems receive up-to-date product and category data directly from the Miele product database. Eye-catchers such as the virtual washing machine, which allows a view into its interior, leave a lasting impression. Complex light and sound installations complement the customer experience at the digital POS. "In addition to the impressive brand experience for customers, a digital infrastructure of this kind also offers the retailer further advantages", explains Wassermann. "It lays the foundation for the Smart Store. Interaction data and customer behaviour can be tracked, which allows to draw valuable conclusions for category management or shop layout. The analysis results, in turn, form the basis for the automatic display of relevant content at the POS, which can provide a significant sales uplift. This is exactly what we are demonstrating here at the stand with our new data platform biscuit.”
